I have been lucky enough to swim with turtles on the Great Barrier Reef and they are one of the most graceful creatures I’ve seen. They truely glide through the water like they weigh nothing. Their flippers push the water down smoothly like pelicans effortlessly flap their wings. I wanted to capture the grace and calm of 3 turtles in their gentle nature using minimal colours with highlights from the moon. I have used a transparent glaze in long strokes to show the moonlight shimmering through the deep blue.
Appears bright blue in a well sunlit room, show’s the twilight with deep and dark blues in a dimmer room, and shimmers with sun rays on the side view.
